HISTORY AND VERSIONS

AfterMachine changed its nature

The name remained. The project was completely rethought. This page keeps the history of that transformation and records the public versions that changed AfterMachine.

18 September 2025: a name before the artwork

AfterMachine.com was acquired on 18 September 2025. There was no collective constellation yet, only a name, an intuition and the idea that AfterMachine should be about what comes after.

Before September 2026

AfterMachine first existed as an educational platform around ChatGPT, React development, data regulation and texts such as GDPR and the AI Act. The material was useful, but the field had become crowded and the brand was not expressing its full strength.

September 2026: start again from the name

The project was deliberately reset. After exploring objects, obsolete machines and archives, a simpler idea emerged: AfterMachine would no longer be a site about machines, but an experience showing what exists after each human passage.

Version 1.0.0: first functional artwork

The first version established the founding state, append-only memory, the first gestures and irreversible contribution. It also revealed its limits: fragmented layout, an overly narrow visual vocabulary and insufficient testing freedom.

Version 2.0.0: the constellation appears

2.0 introduced founding matter, metrics and the first staging of the constellation. It proved the visual direction while still exposing prototype-like overlaps and an insufficiently obvious contribution flow.

Version 2.5.0: the gesture becomes genuinely free

2.5 rebuilds the experience around the approved mockup: central constellation, separate activity rail, readable memory, five visible public gestures and a fullscreen studio. Free drawing truly follows touch or pointer movement.

Version 2.6.5: the trace becomes clearer and easier to engrave

2.6.5 enriches the studio without breaking what already works: stroke intensity control, clearer wording, simplified validation, a clearer thank-you message, direct return to the live artwork, and a more expressive memory animation.

Version 2.7.0: the constellation expands

2.7 moves the site closer to the dark mockup without embedding images: procedural stars and halos, seven public gestures, controlled tones, real metrics, a luminous timeline and a richer activity rail.

Version 2.8.0

Line, circle, curve, free drawing, polygon, point, star, ellipse, arc, spiral, burst and connection are available, with controlled weight and tone. After Machine is a living collective web artwork: choose a gesture, leave a trace and explore the memory of its successive states.

After 2.6.5: let use write what comes next

AfterMachine has no planned final composition. Future versions will depend on real use as much as technical choices. The changelog remains a memory of the project, not a list of promises announced in advance.
